Talbert St. Claire has played the low whistle for the past 26 years. His passion for the instrument is very difficult to express verbally. However, he is grateful to have found a way to express his feelings through the voice of the low whistle.
Talbert is releasing a brand new double CD this year, titled, Bass Dreams. Finally recording a new album after 17 years, the resurgence was due to his intense love of Bass Whistles and an idea he developed for the 30 minute long fantasy track, Ancient of Days! (Title is not related to any scriptural references. Rather, it refers to centuries old “Ancient” Celtic music & Talbert’s “imaginative” spirit).
Talbert stated, “The album is unique, in the sense that it will be the very first bass low whistle album in the world. It was a real challenge, but I got through it and I worked with some amazing musicians on the project. As I reminisce, the bass low whistles were very hard to control. And, at times, my fingers/wrist were swollen due to the finger stretch and the intense energy it took to play them due to their size. It was a dream come true for me to release, Bass Dreams.”
The double CD is close to 2 hours and 15 minutes in length. It is a blend of traditional Celtic arrangements & ethereal world low whistle. A little something for everyone.
Please enjoy the streaming samples.
